Yes: set any phone number on your account to get a text, a call or both, and each email becomes one SMS of up to 160 characters, the subject and the start of the body, for 1 credit to the US or Canada.
Turning it on. Texting is a setting on each phone number: call, text, or both. Filters are unchanged. Their action is still call these phones, and each ticked number then calls, texts or both as it is set. Anything no filter excludes goes to your default number, as a text if that number is set to text. See filters.
One text per email. Eighty alert emails are eighty texts. Calls work differently: one call announces how many messages are waiting. If a tool can flood a number, set that number to call, or filter the noise out before it reaches the phone.
What a text contains. The subject and the start of the body, cut to 160 characters, which is one SMS. Attachments and images are not sent; there is no MMS.
One way, and never an acknowledgement. Replying to a text does nothing. A text has no keypad, so it never counts as acknowledged and it has no callbacks. In a dialling list set to stop at the first acknowledgement, a text-only number gets its text and the list carries on to the next number. On a number set to both, the text goes once and the call behaves as usual: on a phone with voicemail switched off, it calls back at 5, 15, 30, 60 and 60 minutes until someone presses a key.
Cost and coverage. A text is 1 credit to a US or Canadian number, from the same credits as calls; to other countries a text can cost more than 1 credit. The calculator on the pricing page shows call rates, not text rates. Texts work on every plan and on the free trial, where the limit is three emails a day, each delivered as a call, a text or both.
Quiet hours, Suspended Delivery and spam. All three apply to texts exactly as they do to calls. A text due in a quiet window or while delivery is suspended is dropped, not held, and mail that Spam Protection rejects is filed under SPAM and never texted.
Who it comes from. Texts to every country are sent from Email2Phone’s own registered US 10DLC number, so there is nothing for you to register.
