Every Email2Phone feature, in one place

If you are comparing alerting tools by their spec sheets, this is ours: five short tables. Each row is one capability, what it does, and a link to the Help article that explains it. The prose version is how an email turns into a call, step by step.

Delivery and acknowledgement

Capability What Email2Phone does Help
How alerts get in Anything that can send an email sends it to your @email2phone.net address. No integration to install. Getting started
What the call is Your phone rings and says how many messages are waiting; press 1 and a voice reads each one, subject then body. Any phone: mobile, landline or VoIP, in any country. Countries
A burst of alerts One call. The call announces how many unacknowledged messages are waiting and reads them in turn; 80 emails at once is one phone call. One call for many emails
Acknowledgement The listener presses 8 to save, 7 to delete or 5 to reply. That key press is the acknowledgement. The keypad
Callbacks when nobody presses a key On a phone with voicemail switched off, Email2Phone calls back at 5, 15, 30, 60 and 60 minutes, five attempts, then files the message in Message History. If nobody answers
Voicemail If voicemail picks up, the message is left there and counts as delivered; no callbacks follow. Put critical alerts on a number with voicemail off. Voicemail
Escalation Several numbers, dialled one after another or all at once. Stop at the first acknowledgement, or carry on until everyone has been called; a voicemail pickup counts as accepted for that setting. More than one phone

Routing and control

Capability What Email2Phone does Help
Filters One condition each, on From, To, CC, Subject or Body (equals, contains, begins, ends, matches). Action: ignore the email, or call the phones you tick. Filters
Default number Any email no filter excludes rings the default number. A number that is not default rings only when a filter calls it. Filters
Quiet hours Per phone number, not per filter. A message that arrives inside a number's quiet window is not delivered to that number and is readable in Message History. Quiet hours
Suspended Delivery One account switch for maintenance windows. Mail that arrives while it is on is not delivered later; it is readable in Message History. Suspended Delivery
Spam An account toggle files what its spam check rejects under SPAM in Message History; filters act as a second layer. Spam
Flood control from the handset On a call, 9 then 1 blocks the sender and creates the filter; 9 then 3 deletes every unread message from that sender. The keypad

Retrieval and reply

Capability What Email2Phone does Help
Dial-in replay Call an access number in the US, Canada or the UK, enter your six-digit PIN, hear new and saved messages. Free on every plan, trial included. Listening again
Spoken reply Press 5, record after the tone, press #. The sender gets an email with a link to the recording. Replying by voice
Message History Messages nobody acknowledged, and messages not delivered because of quiet hours or Suspended Delivery, are kept in your online account to read. If nobody answers
Attachments The call announces an attachment and plays it if it is a .WAV file. Attachments

Sources and phones

Capability What Email2Phone does Help
Sources Your @email2phone.net address is what triggers calls. Mailboxes you connect (Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, Microsoft 365 and others, no fixed limit) are read when you dial in and never trigger a call. Connecting a mailbox
Monitoring tools Anything with an email notification: Nagios, Zabbix, PRTG, UptimeRobot, a Synology NAS, Microsoft 365 rules, temperature sensors. Setup guides
Phones Mobile, landline or VoIP, any country. One credit covers up to 60 seconds to a US or Canadian number; other countries are 1 to 6 credits a minute. Countries

Plans

Capability What Email2Phone does Help
Pricing $10 a month for 40 credits, $100 for 500, $400 for 3,000. Extra credits $0.25, $0.20 or $0.15. Priced by credits, not by user. Pricing
What a credit counts One credit per phone called. An alert that rings three phones at once uses three credits; sequential dialling that stops at the first acknowledgement uses one per phone actually rung. Billing
Trial 30 days, up to three emails a day delivered as calls, dial-in included, no credit card. A trial account can add a second phone and create filters. Free trial
Terms No setup fee, no contract, first month prorated. In operation since 2008. Billing

What it does not have

  • No SMS or MMS; calls only.
  • No API or webhook; email in, call out.
  • No mobile app.
  • No on-call rotations, incident timeline or response-time analytics.
  • No per-message throttle setting, because a burst of emails is already one call.

If one of those is the feature you need, an on-call platform is the right tool and this is not. The full list, with what to use instead, is in What Email2Phone does not do.

Try it on your own alerts: start the free 30-day trial.
